Welcome to Brain and Trauma, the first course in our mental health series created for individuals navigating life after crisis, stress, or trauma. Whether you’re here because of something recent or something long in the past, you’re in the right place.

This course is designed to help you understand what happens inside the brain when someone has been through overwhelming experiences—like abuse, violence, fear, or constant stress. You’ll learn that the reactions you may be having—like anxiety, memory issues, emotional numbness, or feeling on edge—are not signs of weakness or “being broken.” They’re actually signs of how the brain tries to protect us.

In this course, you’ll explore:

  • How trauma affects different parts of the brain

  • Why certain emotions and behaviors might feel out of your control

  • What “triggers” are and how they relate to past experiences

  • The hopeful science behind recovery and brain healing

You’ll find information presented in multiple ways—short videos, simple explanations, reflection questions, and downloadable resources. Whether you like to watch, read, write, or just think quietly, you can engage in a way that works for you.

There’s no pressure to complete everything at once. Take it one step at a time.
This course is for you. To understand, to feel seen, and to take the next step—whatever that looks like.
